Training for Frontline Providers

We are currently leading a pilot project to provide quality improvement (QI) training to support ongoing efforts to improve the care of patients with sepsis. This pilot is rolling out at Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, UW Medical Center, and Valley Medical Center. The format of this training includes a five-hour QI Bootcamp focused on institutional sepsis care projects, as well as ongoing project support.

Support for Physician Scientists

The Center provides support for a small number of physician scientists who are establishing careers in quality, safety, and value.

Training for Senior Leaders

In 2018, the Center, in partnership with the Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare, held the High Reliability Behaviors: Safety, Error, and Value Conference. This was an invite-only, in-depth brainstorming workshop event that brought together leaders from healthcare, transportation, engineering, law enforcement, and others to discuss the role of High Reliability at UW Medicine.

In 2017, we held a two-hour breakout session at the UW Medicine Leadership Development Institute (LDI). The LDI brings together mid-level management and upper management under one roof, spanning from finance, supply chain, to inpatient/outpatient clinics. Topics included AIM statements, process mapping, PDSA cycles, and run charts. Two hundred and forty leaders attended this training.
